What Are We Going To DO About SARS?

Being a male and a young adult in Nigeria is a death sentence. That is, if you don’t die by thugs, you will die by the hands of terrorists, and if you manage to survive those, you die by the hands of kidnappers or your mental health will end you. And if despite all these you manage to escape, the police is there to finish the job and send you to your grave.

Nigeria, a place where the SARS operatives who are meant to protect Nigerians from the hand of armed robbers are the ones killing them. I am ashamed to call you home!

People have complained , people have written, people have petitioned to the government to do something about this and all they do is ignore. I know they don’t care about us, but don’t they know that if we end up dead, there will be no one else for them to rule?

Every time I see a police officer with a gun, my heart automatically begins to race, these people kill without remorse, most of them are power drunk, and they see civilians as less humans.

One painful fact about this situation is that, these police officers are not intelligent, so having a sensible conversation or argument is a waste of time, it might actually get you killed. The way they jump into conclusion and charge people with crimes is alarming.

Recently a friend of mine told me about a guy that was arrested for resting on his brother’s shoulder, they claimed he was gay. I know it sounds outrageous but that is the country I live in.

The question now is, how are we going to survive these people? It’s like they keep getting worse by the day.

With no hope of this getting better, let us continue to raise our voices against this evil, not forgetting that we don’t argue with a police officer, they are dumb. Please don’t end up being another statistics.
