Tottenham Hotspurs have made history by making it to the semi final round of the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever. Prior to the game, no one thought they stood a chance against a Guardiola-led Manchester City at the Etihad stadium. Even though they came into the game with a first home leg advantage of a 1-0 lead, the odds were still against them as they were without their star man, Harry Kane.
The game started all pumped up, as Manchester City got the home fans excited by drawing first blood within 4 minutes, through Raheem Sterling. Shortly after, Tottenham’s forward, Son, netted a brace in the 7th and 10th minute before Bernardo Silva leveled things up in the 11th minute. Then Sterling returned City’s lead in the 21st minute.
The second half started equally charged up with both team knowing what was at stake within the next 45mins. Aguero scored what seemed to be the decider in the 59th minute, only for that joy to be cut short by Fernando Lorente’s 78th minute goal.
The game was filled with drama till the very blast of the final whistle as we had controversial moments were the referee had to consult the VAR for visual assistance.
With all said and done, fans of Tottenham Hotspurs can now celebrate and jubilate their new feat of reaching the UEFA Champions League Semi Final. It has been a long time coming. Well deserved, Spurs!!
