After the first leg tie of the semi-final game between Barcelona and Liverpool at Camp Nou, where Messi’s brilliance saw Liverpool trail the Catalan giant 3-0. With this sort of first leg advantage, many had written off Liverpool’s ability to pull any sort of stunt even if all their players suddenly became magicians.
Liverpool’s luck was further way off when Mohamed Salah was ruled out of the game with a concussion injury he sustained while playing against Newcastle. And Firmino is still not match fit from the ankle injury he also sustained in one of their PL matches.
Meanwhile, as we were busy ruling Liverpool out of the tie, Klopp was busy scheming a masterclass that was going to BLOW the minds of every football fan all over the world.
Divock Origi put the Reds in front after 4 minutes with a rebound shot from within the box after Ter Stegen carried Henderson’s shot from within the box. The Reds kept fighting and exercised their physical dominance on the match as they out-muscled Barcelona’s players. Liverpool went in with the 1-0 lead at half time.
Then second half came and Klopp had to take off injured Robertson for Wjnaldum, whose presence on the pitch was felt immediately as he made key runs and tackles. Liverpool kept pressing and playing like their life depended on it, and who would blame them? Their fans were obviously creating an electric atmosphere that can electrocute the opposition yet spur the Reds on.
Fast forward to the 80th minute, Liverpool was 4-0 up, and even the great Lionel Messi was in disbelief. Even with 10 minutes to go and Barcelona needing just a goal to qualify, they still didn’t look like they were going to get it as Liverpool’s game play was totally pieced to keep all Barca’s plots at bay.
Klopp and his boys deserve the ACCOLADES.
